Whole town shuts down, everybody's gonna be there.
Lonestar // County Fair // Let's Be Us Again
Lonestar's lyrics were never more applicable to anything before. Never. Go read the rest of the lyrics to the song. Then look at these pictures and drop by in 2013 for the NEWA fair, and you'll believe me.

It was the last few days of my princess-sister's reign as 2012 fair royalty. That was sad....

but this happy face DEFINITELY wasn't. It was a good year, and given the chance, I think she'd do it again.

Matter of fact... I KNOW she would.

That crown's been all over this county (and others) during the girls' reign. It's gonna be weird watching her get ready for a Saturday morning and NOT adjusting her tiara and straightening her sash.

Sarah and Hannah... the faces of our fair!

And the families that made this alllll possible.

Farewell speech... sniff, sniff!!

Crowning the NEW girls!

"Chauffeur Joseph" as the girls call him. He drove that big silver pickup in many a parade.

How many water bottles does it take to get a steer ready for showing?
ummm... many.

d'aw.

the beef barn - our new hangout.
It was the first time any of us had ever shown anything, and it happened to be Sarah's market steer. Even though I wasn't the one showing, I loved being part of the beef barn. Now it's official. Beef barn? Best place on the fairgrounds. (we get touchy about our "districts.")

and thereeee he is.

See what I mean about doing everything in her sash and crown? Every. little. thing.

Then the sad part... after fitting/showing and market competitions, the steer must be sold. Cue tears.

But smiling the whole time, because that's what they do.

Friday night live music? You betcha.

Those guys were good. =)

I would say something along the lines of "sunset," but I'm preeeeeety darn sure that y'all figured that part out already. I have smart readers, right?

One last parade with Mr. Lecaire and Chauffeur Joseph!

Heyyyy... can I have that car? Please?

no car? okay, I'll take a horse.

mandatory bathroom mirror picture, coming up.

we needed sustenance, too... so chocolate/espresso milkshakes on the double!

and blue raspberry lollipops.
of course.

Horse ears.

gahhhaadfhlajdscnwkjlnjaf. dhsflajdfa. fahlwjenc.
he's.... CUTE.

we did plenty of this...

until the shadows grew lonnnng.
and then some.

and yes, I kinda DID kneel down in the grass to take a picture of myself in the shiny chrome of a pickup on display, why did you ask?

Haystacking contest - he tried to get me to do it with him. uhhh-uh. no.

see that, right there? The 2012 NEWA Fair Champion Tug-of-War Team... with my very own BRO! yup... they had their own personal photog annnnd cheerleading squad.

pictures all around. =)

by the end of the weekend, the princess was t-i-r-e-d. Early mornings and late nights can do that to you.

Saturday night and Copper Mountain on stage... surrrre was awesome.

Perfect western swing music, too... which we of course needed to learn. So we did.
Let's say our skills are far from polished as we speak. But we intend on making them better any day now.

well, folks, that wraps up the fair and the BEST weekend ever. =)
next stop: SOPHOMORE YEAR!!
