Adios, Amigos! | Personal

Packing, organizing, cleaning, packing, making cookies, watching one last movie, packing, late nights, chatting, tissues, packing, pictures. 

Yes, it's time to go back to school again! I'm excited and sad and slightly nervous and ready and... confused. When this semester is over, I'll be done with my freshman year of college! I can't b.e.l.i.e.v.e it. 

But. I have a *loooong* way to go before then. I have a long trip... a red-eye flight... lots of school and work and piano practice and studying and tears and laughter and prayers. And I'm ready to jump in allllll over again.

So this week has been errand-running and cookie-making. Spending time with my family, watching Courageous and old Steve McQueen re-runs. And, of course...

Packing. 

Oh, yeah. The desk isn't in good shape at the moment, either.

I'm a typical Navy brat. I love traveling, I love these little tiny airplane-sized things!! =) 

What I don't like is leaving home.

Thank the Lord for modern means of communication!! =) 

(and for Pinterest... haha... but Pinterest really has *nothing* to do with this post...)

Well, I won't be seeing this view for a little while (or a long while, depending on your point of view)!! But it's time to go. Tonight I'll be flying over the entire country - I'll be sure to wave to you when I go by!

Times Together | Personal

 It was a lovely, frigid afternoon, and I had gone outside to take some selfies in the gorgeous golden hour... just a few minutes before the sun set. We don't get very much sunshine in the winter (especially around January/February) so this was rare, delicious sunshine. =)

(side note... I especially like it when the light turns my hair "goldish." Because it's not in the least "goldish." It's brown... the color of dirt and smooth chocolate and nice things like that. But definitely not golden.)


And along came her.


She's so special.


And silly.  And the times we have together are getting shorter.


Times that she steals my camera and takes my "selfies" for me.  But I like that. Because cool things can happen. (it's super difficult to get the hair thing with the tripod, let me tell you!!)


She brings out the crazy in me. =)


Which is good.


See what I mean about my brown hair? And in this picture it looks awful. Like a rat's nest.
But Sarah was proud of the sunflare that she was getting. And she said she liked this picture, of all things!


And even though I didn't like that last picture, and she did - I liked this picture, and she didn't. So now we're even.





I don't know why I have that goofy grin on my face... I must know something that you don't.


Eeeek!! That one's even goofier!! But this is Hannah at her best. The Hannah you rarely see... on the blog, anyway. This is the Hannah that everyone knows - I make goofy faces and I have slightly messy hair and I tease my sisters and I freeze my fingers off for the "sake of art."  Yep. That's me.


And that's the bright, wide, blue sky. With the moon in it.  But I probably didn't have to tell you that.  Much love!Hannah<3

Hot Chocolate | Simple Pleasures

It's January - it's the season for hot chocolate and marshmallows. It's the season for making promises and resolutions. For starting new journals, cozying up with new books, taking walks in the fresh new air. It's the month for clear blue skies and deep drifted snow - for sparking stars and a big moon. Plaid scarves, wood fires, leather boots, slick ice - and Jack Frost still insists on nipping at your nose. Honestly. 

Sadly, we haven't got much snow here... but it's still nippingly cold. So I cuddle up with a chipped mug, steaming with hot cocoa. I stir in the marshmallows... or whipped cream... or ice cream... and my family and I watch old classics. We read aloud, we play board games. We grab the laundry out of the dryer while it's still warm and toss it onto the couch and watch the cat run over to play. I watch my breath cloud up as I walk down the long, frosty driveway in the dark to get the mail. 

It's a splendid time of year, and I "reckon that whatever the Good Captain has" for me this year... well, it'll be awesome. And somehow or another, "we'll all make port in a good harbor."
