I can't believe that this year was our fourth Fourth. It seems weird that we've done our big huge Fourth of July party FOUR times!? this year was only slightly different... Mom was gone, so it was a put-on-by-Dad-and-the-kids event... which meant that I was doing a lot of "mom-stuff" and hence didn't get to take as many pictures. Sad, right? Yes.
But it was just fabulous... perrrrrrrrrfectly warm and sunny. Fresh food, cute kids, seeing friends we only see once a year, three-legged races and old fashioned fun, as well as plenty of fireworks and a hugggeee bonfire. Oh, and DANCING. This year we couldn't help ourselves... and so we turned some music up and danced until the fire burned down and the stars came out and our feet hurt. Mine, anyway. (but there are no pictures, understandably...)

This, apparently, was too posh a party for plain old w-a-t-e-r.
These kids are SO CUTE!! We have the cutest kids at our church. EVER.
argh, those big fireworks are HARD to take pictures of. gee whiz!

ReplyDeleteFor some reason I distinctly remember seeing your pictures from the 4th last year, and I remember thinking how perfectly you captured the essence of a classic Independence Day party - this year was no exception!! I love the fireworks pictures!!! And that pie...oh goodness! :)
